Practice and Knowledge
The pathway to boating mastery has two equal
components:
Practice and Knowledge
Perhaps we are fortunate in New England or Seattle that
our year is approximately equally divided between summertime boating and
the non-boating hiatus some call winter. Responding to the rhythms of the
seasons, we do our on-the-water practice and gain experience during the summer, and we
increase our theory and knowledge in the classroom during the winter. In
the summer we motor or sail; in the winter we read Chapman and Sailing. Such are
the rhythms of life above 42 degrees North.
Here are options for on-the-water instruction and
skill-building during the summer and theory and knowledge-building during the
winter.
